21 Nov A Wedding They Won’t Forget
This week we have another guest blog post by Katie from Wedding Belles Events about how to create an unforgettable wedding!
Have you ever left a wedding and couldn’t stop talking about how great it was? Never left the dance floor or couldn’t get enough of the food? We all still remember our favorites- those weddings we will never forget. Want your big day to go down in history? Here’s a few ways to keep your guests talking about it long after it’s over.
Make it Efficient
People get bored easily and just a few minutes can feel like eternity when you’re hot, hungry, or waiting in line! Keep your guests busy by starting a cocktail hour as soon as the ceremony ends or going straight into dinner and drinks. Hiring an extra bartender to keep lines down is always a great idea. Fed and busy guests are happy guests!
Make it Fun
Gage your group. A photo booth may be a huge hit with a younger crowd where an older audience might have much more appreciation for a Motown style band. If you have a large number of children in attendance, consider a coloring station or a game room. Invest in a reputable DJ or band and you’re guaranteed to get your guests dancing. Evaluate your music choices with them to create a playlist that will get both Grandma Betty and the flower girl out on the dance floor.
Make Them Feel Special
People may not remember every detail of your day, but they will remember their interactions with you, the star of the show! Your friends and family are sharing in the biggest day of your life because they are special to you. Take the time to greet each table and get a photo with your guests. Thank them for being a part of your day. Have a box for people to drop their words of advice in or a wishing tree where they can hang their wishes for you. Engaging your guests will show them how much they mean to you.
Make it Social
Create a wedding hashtag for Facebook and Instagram to get your guests excited about sharing wedding day photos and videos. It’s always exciting to see moments captured between your guests and closest friends that you may have missed during the wedding day craziness!
Make it Unique
This is your day, so make it stand out with the things you love! Is camping your thing? Have a smores’ station where guests can roast their own marshmallows. Was your first date at a pizza place? Serve late night mini pizzas to guests still on the dance floor. Or serve a signature peach drink, inspired by your grandmothers’ favorite homemade peach tea. Making it totally unique and signature to the couple is absolutely one of my favorite parts of planning a wedding. Incorporate family traditions, where you met, your favorite city, or hobbies you love for memories your guests will never forget!
